“Some years ago, I started a body of work in which I try to create the architecture of fictive communities living in remote areas or occupying existing city-landscapes. The communities will consist of a mixture of utopia, destruction and beauty, a symbiosis of hippie-communities from the seventies, with their often highly decorated self-built structures, the cabin of the Uni-bomber hidden in the Montana forests, art-deco and other influences. Romanticism combined with the grim qualities of terror. It is often a direct translation of destruction in a purely aesthetic form.”

Impractical would be a kind way to describe it. Books, being generally rectangular, don't work in a curved space. For the love of god, is that rattan on the shelving? Not really known for durability or pleasant texture-feel. Then the flimsy metal, why must it curve like that? Look at the feet on the thing. For the redesign I'd start there and increase radius of the feet by 200% Actually, fuck it, throw this one away, start again.

For it's 25th Anniversary as the biggest independent Advertising Agency, Wieden & Kennedy relaunched their website to celebrate and showcase their 25 years of work. After just a couple of discussions with the Agency, we realized that the best way to showcase all their immense amount of work, was to focus on all their 'metadata'. That is, show the work and illustrate around each piece as much related content as we could find. That way we created an experience that is centered on keyword navigation, either related to people, projects, clients, awards or a large set of general tags.

While it is possible to experience the website by simply exploring from one keyword to the other, the search functionality adds to the whole, covering the possibility of users trying to access very specific pieces of information letting them filter all the initial clutter.
